Michelle's colors were cobalt blue, black, silver, and hints of purple. She didn't want a round bouquet, and she wanted lots of textures and dressy stems with a little glam. I used blue delphinium, blue veronica, cornflowers, purple stock, purple monkshood, black/blue viburnum berries, black scabiosa, silver leucadendron cones, silver dusty miller, beautiful amnesia roses, and calla lilies in the bride's bouquet. CHARLES + MEGAN

Charles and Megan are such a beautiful couple! They got married at the English Inn in Eaton Rapids this past weekend. The setting was beautiful, and we ended up having the perfect weather!

Megan really allowed me to design the flowers for her, which I really appreciated. She wanted a modern twist with an elegant garden feel to match the setting. I absolutely loved how everything turned out! Megan's dress was simple and very elegant. It swooped to one side with three layers of ruffles, which inspired the three layers of dendrobium lei in her bouquet. We also used a variety of colors and textures through mokara orchids, roses, cockscomb, knotted zebra lily grass, succulents, hanging amaranthus, scabiosa, calla lilies, lambs ear leaves, and other greens.

The girls wore a beautiful medium color coral. The bouquets were a mixture of plums, lavenders, coral, orange, and reds, which really gave a bright fall feel. The flowers included dendrobium orchids, succulents, roses, cockscomb, hanging amaranthus, scabiosa, artichoke, stock, dahlias, lisiathus, calla lilies, sedum, and lambs ear leaves.

CHARLES + MEGAN: REHEARSAL DINNER

Charles' parents also hired me to do the flowers for the rehearsal dinner. Jane's colors were green and apricot, and she wanted something with an exotic feel, inspired by Charles and Megan's upcoming honeymoon in Aruba. The tables were 25 feet long, and the rooms were kind of small. So, I created sections of garland with a variety of greens and orchids using varigated ginger leaves, pittsporum, camelia foliage, nagi, hydrangea, mokara orchids, cybidium orchids, and fuji mums. They turned out beautiful!

I had a great time creating Rachel and Seth's flowers this past weekend. The bridesmaids wore chocolate brown dresses, but Rachel wanted the flowers to coordinate and give a summery bright look. She loves orchids and spider mums, so we used a combination of spider mums, gorgeous Esperance pink roses, alstromeria, dendrobium orchids and some phalaenopsis orchids in her bouquet.

CARLOS+LAUREN

I really enjoyed working with Lauren and her mom, Denise, this past week. The week before the wedding is always stressful; however, they had a lot more than usual with Carlos getting in a car accident that easily could have been fatal less than one week before the wedding. While stopped on in the median of the highway to help an accident, another car hit them and pushed a car into Carlos' leg causing him to have to get surgery and be in the hospital most of the week. I'm just so thankful he was ok and they could still keep all their wedding plans (as much as possible)!

For the flowers, we used Cymbidum and Dendrobium Orchids, Hot Pink Roses, Nerines, Alstro, and a few different elements to create a beautiful texture to the bouquets. I absolutely loved how everything turned out. Congratulations Lauren and Carlos, and I pray for a quick recovery for you, Carlos!

Altar Arrangement

I had the pleasure of creating the flower arrangements for Bethany and Lee's wedding this past weekend. I really enjoyed working with Bethany and her family. They are great people! I also loved all of Bethany's colors and her "elegant garden" theme. The mixture of flowers and textured greens truly painted this picture.

I was very excited when Bethany wanted to use peonies for her bouquet also. It turned out absolutely gorgeous. I wrapped Bethany's stems in an elegant ivory lace to match her dress, which also was beautiful!

The bridesmaid's stems are wrapped in a vintage floral pattern material and accented with a chocolate ribbon to match the girl's dresses. I love how these turned out. Attached to the backs of the bouquets are dainty hankierchiefs that I made for all of the girls. I have been a bridesmaid a few times and always hated trying to hide (and not drop) tissue while carrying my bouquet. So, I came up with this little idea. I hope the girls liked them.

I also loved all of the little details that Bethany put on her table! Her table numbers were really table cities to help people find their seats. Each city had a related personal story of them as a couple or individual in that city. Great idea!

"A DAY IN PARIS"

The "Art of the Table" event was held at the Indianapolis Art Museum this past weekend. I was honored to be asked to create the centerpiece for Pam Monahan's table.

Pam is the owner of, Entertaining with a Flair, a boutique party rental and decorating firm, in Indianapolis. Pam's theme was "A Day in Paris." Girlfriends flying to Paris in search of the perfect dress. Pam is a very creative and talented event designer. I was impressed with her attention to every detail of the table decor.

My design was to give the feeling of a lunch cafe in Paris. I used a tall trumpet vase with an etched design that matched the details of Pam's favor boxes and the shape of her glasses. The vase was filled with fringed pink tulips that really gave a feeling of simple elegance. I also wanted to bring a fun girly element to the design and came up with the idea of filling purses with flowers as accent pieces. Pam loved the idea, and she found these great purses that I filled with a mixture of green and pink roses to bring out the colors on the table. I also used anemones, one of my favorite flowers, which really tied in the black and white detail of the table.

We have two of these topiaries that can be rented from us. We can add some of your flowers to personalize them to your wedding.

Calla Lilies can start to droop and bruise easily by the end of night; therefore, we decided to use silk calla lilies and added fresh lily grass and hydrangeas. When you mix fresh and silk flowers, a lot of time you can't even tell you have silk flowers in the arrangement. I also still have these calla lilies that could be rented from me for a lot less than real calla lilies.

Kristin played a fun little trick with her toss bouquet. There were actually three separate ones that went flying to all the single ladies :)

JORDAN + ALANEA

These are some pictures from Alanea and Jordan's wedding that was on Valentine's day. I absolutely loved working with Alanea and her family! We created a monochromatic design using different shades of pink ranunculus and roses.

Alanea and Jordan got married in front of this water fountain. I was able to find these vases which looked great tipped over to give the feeling that the flowers were being poured into the water. I love to get inspired by your church/reception site. I always try to incorporate the scenery into your flowers.

I also like to be practical and save you money when I can. My favorite way to do this is to try to use as many arrangements as we can at both the ceremony and reception sites. We used the large silver vase arrangement at both sites. We also used all of the aisle decorations on the head table as well.

I wasn't able to get any pictures of the bouquets, which I loved! I'll post them later when I can get them from the photographer.

COLOR WHEEL

Choosing the right colors for your wedding does not have to be a daunting task. Here are a few rules of thumb to follow when choosing your colors:

1. Start with one color of your choice that you want to stand out. Maybe it is Apple Green, Salmon Pink, or Butter Yellow. If you want to know the spring 09 trend, visit Pantone's Trend Forcast for 09. However, if you don't like any of these colors, be your own trend setter. What is the most important is that you love the color!

2. Next, decide if you want a more monochromatic color scheme or a complimentary color scheme. A monochromatic color scheme is different shades of the same color. Complimentary colors are the colors opposite to your main color on the color wheel. Remember the color wheel from elementary school? This online color scheme generator is a great tool to help you choose monochromatic and complimentary colors. I'm warning you that this tool can be addicting!

3. Another great way to pick your colors, is to find an inspiration piece. This could be a picture, piece of art, invitation, piece of stationary, piece of fabric, wedding dress, bridesmaid dress, inspiration board, bouquet of flowers, one specific bloom, and the list goes on and on. Show your inspiration piece to all of your vendors, and let them incorporate it into all of your details.

4. One more tool is to visit your local paint store or paint department at Home Depot/Lowes. The strips of paint colors and design idea pamphlets have been put together by expert interior designers, so you can't go wrong.

After getting married to my wonderful husband of five years, we had two adorable children. I enjoy staying home with them and using my creative talents through my floral design business. I service the surrounding areas of Indianapolis, IN and Jackson, MI.

I am very competitive with other designers; however, what distinguishes me are my services and design. I try not to limit myself to a particular design style. What I love are colors, textures, and using different natural elements to create a truly unique design for the unique couple they represent. Personalizing each bouquet for you and your bridesmaids and searching for the perfect material for your stems to bring out your personality are a few more examples of how I go above and beyond for my clients.

Most floral shops cannot give you the personal attention that I am able to because I specialize in wedding and event decor. I also only accept twelve weddings per year, so I can truly give you the service that you deserve. When creating your floral arrangements, I try to incorporate all of the the other wedding details you work so hard on. I take the time to listen to the atmosphere and style you want to achieve for your wedding day. Flowers speak a language of their own. I use a variety of flowers and textures to paint this picture for your guests.
